Just pick up a new browning a bolt 3, in 30-06 cal. Bought this just for a rifle to pack around the country at 6.9 lbs its easy to carry around. Anyone have any experience with the new a bolt 3,??? I haven't used it yet.

Keep us informed what you like and dont. I handled one last week and liked it all but the trigger and stock. If you get bored take it apart and look over the trigger. I hope B & C makes a stock for it some day. Browning now thinks the Abolt II is worth a mint, so if one can modify this 3 a little you could have an inexpensive shooter.

Browning has always thought the A-Bolt II's were worth a mint... I paid a hefty price for mine and haven't put 150 round through it and the barrel is trashed. Never again will I buy a used gun I plan on shooting. I'll only buy used for just the actions to build off of.

I figured since you had paid a hefty price that it was a new rifle. Haha.

No, around here, certain models hold a value, and the A-Bolt II Composite Stalkers w/ BOSS hold really high values. I was pretty mad at first, but then I decided to rebarrel to .280 AI. However, my old smith has since retired and you need an FFL to buy the A-Bolt II standard bolt head for me to convert it to a standard caliber instead of magnum...So now I'll probably just go with a .264 WinMag, since everything is interchangeable with the 7mm RM, and especially since I have a bunch of 7mm RM brass sitting around.

Plus, it was virtually identical to the one I had for years, that got stolen back in '08, so I kind of wanted to retain a memory in my past, and was willing to pay for it. Unfortunately, the barrel internally must have been alot worse than the rifle itself looked externally.

I bought the same rifle in the same caliber too

I hope to take it out this weekend and see what it can do:D gun)
