Blending Mixed Lot Powder?

Obviously I am talking about same powder type but from various lot numbers. Anyone ever done it?

For example, I have five 1lb bottles of H1000 from three different lots. By blending together would you minimize the variances between each lot?

Just curious if anyone has done this and does it actually make a difference?

I've done this when ending a bottle of one lot then adding to another. But that's a small amount to blend in. I generally just test the next lot for variances. Doesn't take many rounds.

I have mixed them. Lower your charge weight and "re-verify" velocity with a chronograph.

Yup I forgot the chrono part. That's what I do. When I didn't have a chrono I checked by shooting out to longer distances. Not as good as a chrono, but helps.

I do it also and have done it for over 20 years when needed, I mix them make one lot out of however many I have. If I can get the components I want in large enough quantities I wouldn't do it though. I don't enjoy load development either, so that plays into it. If you need an excuse to go shoot and/or enjoy load development then by all means don't mix lots and every time you open a new can you can go test and adjust.

Do it all the time. I always verify load data whenever I open a new can regardless of it is the same lot or not anyway.

I in the same boat as everyone else. If I end up with 2 or more lots, I blend them to create one large lot. It's worked just fine for me in the last 10yrs or so.

I pour into a big salad bowl and mix well. Then pour back into original containers.
Note, any orange dust or lack of sweet smell do not mix with others.

Been doing it for many years. Use a large plastic bowl, wood spoon with slots cut in it. Also funnel it 3-4 times between container and bowl helps ensure an even blend. I also put it into a new jug. Saves space.
