Best sub $400 hunting scope?

I used a SWFA 3-15 like the one in the link I posted earlier on my .375 Snipetac last hunting season to cut some weight as compared to the NightForce usually sitting on it. Worked like a charm.
Currently sitting on my .300 RUM.
I am thinking about going all 10x and run them on most my rifles. Any more for hunting I donts shoot much past mid range anyway.

Happy Sunday y'all. I have two buddies in need of a hunting scope that are both in the same boat of limited funds.

My first friend and I were at the range yesterday with his 30-06 sporting a Vanguard scope, we kept dialing elevation but could not get any on target change. Eventually the reticle even canted under recoil. This is a replacement from Vanguard for another broken optic. Needless to say he's done with Vanguard.

Another buddy is a brand new hunter, I talked him up budget a little to a Tikka T3X and now that rifle needs a scope.

Both have a budget of around $400. Anyone have a suggestion in this range? I am less familiar down in this range. A quick look on Midway shows options from Nikon, Burris, Bushnell, and Vortex. Any great closeout deals?

I'll get drilled for this, but the Chinese T-eagle 4-16 SF is a brilliant clear piece of kit for 150 bucks. Any T-eagle I've used has been awesomely good value for money, and have taken a total beating.

$200 :D

I though I had already commented on this thread already but maybe I didn't??

I have a few scope brands of different standards(Bushnell, Leupold VX1, VX2, 3iLRP Sightron S3,Vortex) but recently used a Sightron S1 4-12x40AO to do all my LD on a 300wsm & it coped beautifully, held zero & tracked perfectly throughout.

I think that is actually a sub $200US scope!

Proving you don't have to spend the earth to get it done ;)

Nikon and Bushnell both make some good scopes in this price range Both have great warranties.

I just bought a couple of Nikon Black x1000 4-16x50 with a 30mm main tube. Very nice turrets and side parallax. Cabela's $299.97. Not sure if the sale is still going. Great scope for the $.

Nikon 4.5-28x40 BDC with illuminated reticle .Center cross hair illuminates. BDC makes fast hold over for distance. Nikon SPOTON ballistic software allows you to tailor scope to your caliber and bullet drop.
$389.00 at Natchez shooting supply.
