Best bullet weight for 300rum

although i didnt start this post, thanks to all for input. i have a 300RUM and shoot 180 tsx with good resuls . the education i got here i will have to get my bullet guy to make some 200's and try them out.i have put deer and hogs down at 700. so the 180 works but im sure with elk the 200 would be best.
thanks

What's Wrong With .30 Caliber?

Brian calls 200-210's 'midweight' 30 cal bullets and lighter bullets are lightweight. Interesting. The 300RUM is just about the biggest factory 300 there is. Match the horsepower to the bullet with a very slow burning powder and you'll produce more energy with that chambering at any range than with the lighter bullets. 240SMK at 3K and run the numbers. My main big game interest is elk, so I'm always looking for ummphhh to put them down fast at ranges near or far. Others hunt different game in different ways.
