We've had many threads on the leveling of a rifle and aligning the scope, enough to know that its not always as simple as its been stated. Turrets aren't always perfectly square to the reticle, rails aren't always level on the action, etc., etc., etc. Which was what prompted me to ask. The levels that mount on the rail assume that the rail is level and square on the action, but is it? Perhaps if the rail is machined into the action, but what about those that are separate parts? The levels that mount to the scope tube are nice in that you can adjust them so that they are level relative to something.

I'm pointing this out because when you're at the point where you need a level then what it is level to needs to be considered. It is part of a system, not a stand-alone device. Merely attaching a level to a rifle doesn't mean that the rest of the system is square and true unless all of that has already been set-up or verified to be square and true.

I'm with you brother. I mount a lot of scopes for folks and in many cases the turrets are not square. Picatinny rails can also be off. I level the rifle as close as I can then I'll match the vertical crosshair to the plumb line. Then center the bubble while rifle is level and the crosshair is fixed on the plumb line. Most DIY scopes on rifles I get in have reticles that are canted. Some badly. My OCD can't handle that on my personal rifles.

I think the 30mm and 34mm may have been discountined. It's no longer offered on their website. The 1" may be heading out the door as they have it marked down.

Might as well go MDT SEND-IT level for a few dollars more.

I went with SG Pulse and Its 140.00 so about half price of Send It.

I level to a Plumb Bob and usually use the Accuracy 1st level or the Grey Ops Hunting rings with the level built into the top cap.

I've had cheapies that were OK but not great so I decided to upgrade. I really liked the Flatline Ops articulating but just couldn't quite swallow that cost for a scope level. After a lot of consideration I got a Holland and it's been great. It's well made, the bubble has good visibility and it comes at a moderate cost.
