Picked up an HMR a few months ago and have since shot 4 boxes of hornday Whitetail hunter and 1 box of Hornady SST. Both yielded great two shot groups (3/16"-1/2") but seeing some funny fliers.
Usually this is how it works:
Shot 1 and 2 are very good and close together. Usually wait 2-4 minutes between shot one and two. Then I shot 3 and 4. Shot 3 is after waiting about 5 min again and is typically close to the first two but opens the group from about 1/4" to about 3/4". Then shot 4 after waiting a few min again is about 1.5" away from the the others and shot 5 is the same result (about 1.5" away from the group) but about 3/4"-1" away from shot four. Then I'd let it cool down for15-20 min and shot 6 and 7 will usually be near eachother about 1/2". All shots get atleast 3 minutes between the follow up shot and I always make sure the barrel is cool when shorting. Have been shooting in weather that is about 50 degrees
I have yet to try any match ammo, but I don't think that'll help the fliers?
I'm also having extraction issues, when I pull the bolt back, the case contacts with a bur or sharp corner on the inside of the action and leaves a small grove in the casing. It's enough to stop the bolts monitor unless you apply some force. Are these casings ok to reload?
