I looked at my Savage 10 (model SV10SASH6.5CR) 24" barrel with my borescope and noted some egregious scoring. I have been interested in pre-fit barrels, so I'm thinking of replacing the barrel with one from a quality barrel maker, but I understand there are some different barrel shank diameters from Savage. Does anyone know the correct barrel shank diameter for this model Savage? I've asked this of a couple of pre-fit barrel makers but haven't rec'd a reply, hopefully someone here knows the answer. I know some might say "if it shoots good, don't bother", but I'd still like to explore the options. thx

Measure your barrel nut length. If its 5/8", its a large shank.
If its 7/8" its a small shank. (measure from receiver face end to end of nut taper towards muzzle)
That's the easiest way without removing the nut.
