what was the issue? yes communication is poor took me 2-3 messages before a return call, I would say it took about 3-4 weeks after he had received it before I got a call saying how to pay then about 4-5 days after he receive my money order, then 11 days for the PO to get it to me. I am happy with the time involved. looking down the bore it looks nice but I do not have a bore scope. so when it is all put together I will see how it shoots if I can get 1 moa I will be happy caliber 9.3x62 and max range I expect to shoot is 200 to 300 hundred yards in Africa
A rebore from JES is about $300 and the lead times are 3-4 weeks, from what other customers have said. A prefit barrel from most barrel companies will be in the $600+ range with 3-6 months for a wait time. Half the price and 1/3 the wait time sounds pretty appealing.
I've heard the same thing from others about the bore condition after the work was done. Those folks were happy with the accuracy, like you, so they weren't worried about it. I've seen some pretty ugly barrels that shot great, so I don't get too hung up on that. It's a good thing to be aware of though.

McGowen barrels non chambered can be had for under $300, and a re bored barrel will still need to be rechambered which brings up the cost of re boring, a rebore is not comparable to prefit barrels as the prefit includes the cost of chambering where reboring usually does not include the cost of rechambering.
My last pre-fit barrel from McGowen was in 03/21 was .257 WBY 1:7" 22" for $432.06 shipped. In today's price, it's $440 + shipping.
Sounds about right, my $300 number was for the profiled blank, as even a re bored barrel will need chambering. Trying to compare apples to apples. They've got great prices

Maybe one of the guys here with first hand experience can confirm, but I was told the $300 cost includes cutting the new chamber.
He cleaned up the chamber in mine, a 338 fed is a necked up 308, easy peasy.
