ALLIANT RELODER 23

I bought some XBR 8208 to try but I guess I hit the wrong button as I received an 8# to "try". The perils of age.
If you use Varget in anything find a load for 8208 XBR and don't look back, especially with heavies. In my .223 Wylde AR 77 SMK/TMK bullets gain speed and accuracy is excellent. As a small grain powder it meters well too.

I love my 6.5-06.
Legendary Arms action.
Kriger 30" barrel in #4.

Everything shoots well. Some better than others. I have used RL23, and Everything else.

V165 is the powder my rig likes.

Bought it for 223 and 308 but may try it in 6.5 Grendel also. Original 8208 was great in 6 PPC but this new version seems slow for my PPC as it only has a 14" twist and doesn't like heavy for caliber bullets.

I have ran 23 in my 6.5 SST. 130 game changers at 3250. It's very good powder in this round with the 130 and lighter bullets

Ran my initial loads of 23 today through my CA Ridgeline 6.5-284 Norma using Berger 140 VLD Hunters. I've not had the success that others have had w/H4831sc, IMR 7828sc, etc, in hitting the 2950'ish velocity. Was able to achieve that plus today at the range with no pressure issues.

I've been using RL23 for the last several months in my 280AI and have been pleased with it.
57.5 to 58 grains depending on brand of brass used has been the magic spot for me with the 155 federal edge bullet. 2960 fps and 5/8 average 3-5 shot groups @ 200.

I've had great luck with RL26 in the same exact rifle as you. The ridgeline has a ton of freebore in that chambering. I run 53.7gr rl26 with 156 bergers @ 2980 in peterson brass. The 156 is the only Berger bullet that you can use close to the lands, the rest don't have enough bearing surface.

I am far from an expert reloader. I learn more every time I open up these replies. Thanks

I learn new stuff all the time as well, we'll never know everything. RL23 does work well in the 6.5-284 but rl26 does out perform it with better case fill. I have no idea why the new saami 6.5x284 specs have freebore over 0.300" but it puts most bullets including the 156 eol half way up the neck to touch lands. Similar freebore to a 6.5 prc would have worked well. My rifle shot the 156 eol half to quarter moa from 44-66k off lands, all with very simila poi @ 200y. I was freaking amazed. Easiest load development I've ever done.
