ALLIANT RELODER 23

Seems to be hard to get. Has it been discontinued? Anyone have experience with it in 6.5-06 class cartridges?

I'm sure some other folks with more experience than me will chime in but I'm running it in two 280AI's with great success. I got lucky back in April and found an 8lb-er from a small shop online. It's not as hot selling as RL-26 but it is seemingly getting more popular. I think Alliant lists it for the 25-06 but I don't know how/if that would translate to the 6.5-06

While not Re-23, I use Re-22 with great success in my AI version under 120 Sierra Pro-Hunters. And, speaking of 6.5's, I use it in a 264WM with similar success.

I have some Reloder 22 and have used it also. Just interested in Reloder 23 because of the copper fouling reducer additive.

It will work well in 6.5-06 size cases. Similar To H4831 but tends to give better velocity. It's my new "go to" powder for 280AI and 7WSM. Burn rate is ever so slightly fast than R22 according to charts I've seen.

RL 23 is getting harder to find because people realize it's better than rl26.

Reloder 23 is really popular. I'm finding it is easy to load with and has predictable ladders in velocity increases. Better velocity than my equivalent Hodgdon burn rates.
Its a good seller. Can't find any of course.

My local gun store had it and I bought it on a whim. Rl22 is the best in my 270 in terms of attainable velocities without pressure problems, but it's very temp sensitive. Hoping rl23 proves to be the end of the search for my perfect 270 propellant, but maybe not if it turns out to be as scarce as its mythological rl26 brother.

Loading with RL23 is pretty much grain for grain with RL22 in my experience. RL 23 seems to be a touch bulkier, so it fills cases a little more. Same velocities, but much better stability with RL23

RL 23 shoots great in my 280 AI. 2950 fps with 175 gr Berger. Thinking I may try it in my 260AI.Seems to get better velocities than 4831SC. I have found it to be much more temp. stable than RL26.
