Correct.I just now saw where virgin adg brass is aprx 73 grains h2o capacity. So it should be just a touch more on a once fired case.
James Skinner of Apache gun works Chambered & threaded the barrel for me as it was a prefit. I'm not sure what brand reamer he used. Chamber is a .081 freebore .298 neck. The neck leaves me with .004" neck clearance on a loaded Prime ammo round. I found 147 elds to be 2.864" long when touching the lands. I put it in a short action because that's the action I had to work with but I really think the cartridge would be more ideal in a long action with around .188 freebore if you planned on running 147gr - 156gr bullets. I haven't got to do much shooting yet. I've put around 18 rounds of prime ammo through it. I'm probably going to be waiting a while on diesDjfergus,
I had a thought while contemplating this build.
Should I build on a LA or SA Rem 700?
Also, whose reamer have you used and what throat length is it?
Cheers.
I think you will really like the 7mm stw. I'm still trying to get around to a 264 win mag. Ive always wanted one. I can't figure out why I keep getting side tracked and haven't went ahead with it.Thanks djfergus,
I would normally run a .200" throat but the .188" sounds interesting.
I have already decided on the long action, so the standard throat is probably too short.
I was planning on running the 156gr Berger Elite, but am open to other bullet choices.
I already run a 6.5x47 Lapua, 264WM & 300WM in F-class, so wanting a new challenge based on the SAUM case.
Have just built my first 7mm in STW, so will be trying that also.
Cheers.
