Those shooting the absolute hammer in severely overbore chambers, are you still seeing gains like what the less intense chambering are experiencing?

I was looking at the 30cal 178 and thought it would be a suitable replacement to the 181 hammer hunter I currently shoot out of my 300 Lapua improved. I currently run the 181 at 3490 with RL33

Shortly after they Absolute line came out Steve found that the didn't big magnums didn't see the gains that the smaller cartridges saw. I run the 143 HH in a 7 RUM at 3,600+fps with Reloder 26 and was excited to try the Absolutes but it wasn't to be. Steve has a 300 Lapua Improved but I forget what bullet he runs but I think it's in the 3,700fps range.

I got my first order of hammer bullets this weekends I’m loading them for a friends rifle so decided to try them myself. My experience:

Friends rifle is a 26” kimber .300wm 178 absolute hammers running 3175.

Mine is a 28” proof, .300 wm using 196 hammer hunters, I’m getting 3280 easily, it kinda scares me to be honest. But no heavy bolt, primers look nice.

One other thing to note is the BC decrease with the Absolutes vs the Hunters which only gets worse as the diameter increases. I originally picked up the 178’s to use the the Win Mag but determined that the 181’s would outrun them down range even with the increased speed.

I am now switching to use the 178’s in the 30-06 for sub 500 yard work.

For inside ~500 yards bullet BC doesn't really come into play so I load the Shock Hammers for a couple buddies rifles, and 130 Barnes TTSX at 3,300 fps in my GF's rifle. Will be switching it to the 151 AH when the TTSX are gone and can probably get close to 3,200 fps. Very flat shooting and minimal recoil. BC is and average and the higher the speed the higher the BC. I have yet to recover a bullet shank so penetration is never a concern with these monos even with a relatively light bullet.
