A-Tip bullets for hunting

I have been searching youtube and the net for reports of terminal effect on game of A-Tips. I have seen use on pronghorn and ballistic gel. Does anyone have experience on other targets please?

Cow elk at 320 and whitetail buck close range. I'd say they preformed similar to eldx. They both shed a lot of weight and made a mess inside

Jaron, thanks for info. Exactly what I hoped for. I'm looking for a frangible, total energy dumping, dead right there bullet. Did you happen to get an exit hole on either animal?

No. On the elk, it was inside the hide on far side. The deer was an odd one. It was wounded. I jumped it in front of me about 20 yards just threw the rifle up and shot. It was running straight away, so you know where it went in, through the hind quarter long ways through the deer. Found what was left of the bullet under the hide in the neck

Cow went about 20 yards and plopped over. Deer dropped. I'm trying copper monos this year. I really haven't been happy with hornady bullets. At least the eldx so I'm trying coppers in a few different rifles to look at performance. If they work as advertised, I'll probably go all copper. If they don't I go back to the atip before any other hornady bullet

I figured they would work just like a eld-m. In terms of construction a eld-m with a aluminum tip and higher level of QC.

Interesting. I never thought about them changing the lead alloy composition. I wonder if that allows them to get tighter tolerences. If there is one thing the A-tips are it is consistent. And expensive of course.

Thanks, I am wanting to use them for aoudad and want the best possible BC to negate my non existent wind doping skills and a DRT terminal performance.

A friend harvested a nice WY bull elk this year at 400Y+.

I had two 135gr A-Tips not expand much on whitetail deer at 175 and 340 yards. 6.5 Creedmoor @ 2750 fps at the muzzle. I have heard they work great at higher velocities.
