My step dad and I got to go up last weekend and we made the most of it. This was his first elk and my second. Had a great experience. We took them both with my rifle after he missed 5 times with his 7 mag. (It must have gotten bumped from his previous hunt). Anyways, I was using the Tikka ctr with the 147 eldm's at 2715. Mine cow was shot at 545, hit was right in the boiler. She went 5 maybe 10 yards before locking up. His was a 470 yard shot and he got her at the base of the neck. She made it 50 yards somehow. We had a great time and really are looking forward to eating this winter!

Good work. If u recall you had a 300win mag you were fighting with, still struggling with it since you took a 6.5?
Yes sir, bartlein actually just replaced my barrel. They were seeing a few things they didn't like and sent me out a new one! Awesome customer service. Personally, I don't think it was the barrel. I'm going to be using a different Smith this time around as I had more issues than the gun not shooting with the last Smith.

Awesome job! Where in Idaho are you located? I'm from Glenns Ferry but live in Utah now. Heading out on a cow hunt myself in a week.

I live in Caldwell. Lived in this valley since I was 8 years old. Would love to escape the rat race here and move to the hills...one day!
