9 twist for Berger 7mm 180 hybrid?

Bergers websites recommends an 8 twist for the 7mm 180 hybrid. I currently have a 9 in a custom 7/300 WSM. This is for long range elk hunting. I've had lackluster results with accuracy and wondering if changing to an 8 twist would help. Anyone using this cartridge in a 9 with good results? Also, anyone shooting the 180 at velocities around 3,000-3,100 with good accuracy? Any advice is appreciated.

I built a 7SAUMfor the 180 and the twist calculator shows an SG of 1.49 with 3ooofps and sea level. It SHOULD run it fine but until you try.......

A 9 twist works fine for the 180 Hybrids. Just like a 10 twist works fine for 215s in .308 Cal and yes, the accuracy is fantastic around 3000-3100 fps. If you can't get them to shoot, try a seating depth test at .040, .050, and .060 off the lands then fine tune your powder charge. .050" +/- .005" jump works very well for several of the rifles I've converted to hybrids. I highly doubt you would notice any twist related improvement by changing to an 8 twist. An individual barrel may shoot tighter, however it likely won't be because of the twist rate.

I have loaded 180 Berger Hybrids in a couple 7RM w. 1:9" twist between 2970-3030 and all shoot great. I went with a 1:8.5" in my personal build, and it shoots lights out as well, right at 3000.

I've had great luck with them as well in my 7 Rem Mag. 2950fps over H1000 with a 26" 9 twist.

I'm shooting 180 Hybrids in a 9.25" twist 7mm STW (3,000 fps) @ 500' ASL. No issues here. Running at around 1.42-1.43 SG (Berger's calculator), so it's VERY close to being stable. They shoot great. I'm stacking 5 inside 1/2" at 100 yards.

I'm shooting 180 hybrid from a 9 twist saum. The calculator shows I'm only marginally stable... I wish I could speak more to that point like how it handles transonic ranges, but its running 1.5'' five shot groups at 500+ yards so I can't complain at this point. My rifle likes it 20 thousandths off the lands with H4831 only running 2750 FPS. I should try some H1000 or reloader 26 to get more velocity, but its shooting soo good now I don't know if I should try and fool with it.
Only running 9 fps of standard deviation on a ten shot string.

My SAUM is running 175ELDX at 3150 if that helps you decide if chasing a little velocity is worth it. 64.5gr H-1000 with 27" tube. 3.09 COAL so its seated looong. Now if I can get the 1.5" at 500 we will both be rockin.
