Does anybody have a good load for elk hunting for the 7MM STW, I'm building one now and need some input.

Thanks guys
David F.

i ust started reloading and getting into the long rang stuff about a month or two ago. I also have a 7mm STW and plan on shooting the 160 grain nosler partitions this year. Not sure if there the best but at least its some input for ya.

interested on hereing other peoples ideas as well

I load for a few STW's all factory guns worked over and each will shoot 160 Accubonds, Fed 215M primers and 78 to 79 grains of RE-25 seated at 3.60 to feed from the mag. Not the fastest load but very accurate in those guns. Start a little lower and work up. The load has taken quit a few Elk over time. Good Luck, Dave

I don't know my charge but I use a 162gr. Amax on top of h1000 and it shoots and works amazingly well on deer elk bear and coyotes. Oh I guess a few rock chucks too. I think you will love that Stw. After owning the 300rum and 338 edge and the Stw I would have to say out to 1100 its my favorite

150 gr Swift scirocco, 76 gr, IMR 7828, Fed 215M 3.700 OAL, .010 off the rifling.

Remington brass, CCI 250 primers, 78.2 grns Retumbo.
BERGER 168 GRN VLD!!

Hereis a 300 yard group in a 15 mph wind. And the rifle at work

With the Bergers seating depth is critical but the second node will fit and feed from a standard Rem. 700 magazine in my rig. BTW it is an under 8 lb. Rig built for spot and stalk in elk and mule deer country.
WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE STW... AND GOOD LUCK

I would use H-1000 that is the powder of choice for the stw with win brass and a fed 215 primer. With a 160gr accubond start at 77gr and work your way up my load for mine was 82gr of H-1000 but I would start lower like I said. The stw shoots flat and hits hard and I have found it to be very accurate in several different rifles. Good luck.
