7 PRCW with 168’s??

What barrel twist would you go with? Is 1-8 too fast for 168/175 bullets?

use the calculator on Berger's website, for best results. So you can use your altitude, velocity etc. 8.5-9tw seems adequate.

It would be more than adequate. Just wondering if it's too fast. I know the 7PRC is SAAMI spec'd for a 1-8

I don't think it's too fast.
I use 8tw with 7SS and PRC, down here close to sea level.
and you are covered if heavier bullets come into play down the road.

1-8.4 is probably the sweet spot. I think even a 1-9 would be fine with up to 180's

If you go over to the forum where the Shooters are Accurate (
), and search for 6.5-7prcw load data, you may find it of interest.
Some people are running the 162gr ELD. And there are apparently a few that have made hunting rigs in that chambering.
Be aware that Alex has i believe 2 different reamers and drawings.
If nothing else, you can always contact Alex Wheeler and ask him about the 168s.
Personally that's the bullet I'd be using.

I use a 8.5 twist and it shoots the 175 elites very well. Indiana 800' ASL to Wyoming 6500' ASL
