I recently picked up a 7 PRC with a 20" barrel. I'm thinking about getting a 18" barrel for it and chamber in 7-300 PRC. It's suppressed.

What velocities are people seeing a with a 7-300 PRC and what barrel length?
 
Not seeing one fired, but, case capcity suggests 50fps more than a 7-300WM in all barrel lengths. The difference is not large enough for a significant rise in velocity.

Depending on your source, the 7 PRC has an H2O capacity of 73-75g, while the 300 PRC has 77g. I do not think you gain anything from the 2g increase when you shorten the barrel by 2 inches. Is the 7 PRC new/used and threaded barrel for a suppressor?
 
It's used and threaded. I thought a 300 PRC was around 90 h20 capacity?
You have a decision to make, then: if it is due for a re-barrel, go for it; if not, enjoy it as-is for now. But I do understand the anticipation of going through your intended purpose/goal. I bought a used .270 Win for the action, and it shot well and harvested a few deer in two hunting seasons. I know it has a few more barrel life remaining, but I re-barreled it and went with .270 AI. Good luck!

I also was interested in the case capacity of the 300 PRC which is basically the 375 Ruger necked to 308.

Did some looking around the net, found this from some of our members:

Continued looking and many say the 30 Nosler and 300 PRC are going to yield very similar performance due to the fact they share almost identical case capacities. Nosler didn't try as many powders with the 300 PRC but their top velocity actually beat their 30 Nosler which had more powders listed.

As a side note, Nosler's load data has their 28 Nosler beating the 7 RUM. Bet others noticed their sleight of hand. The RUM used a 24" barrel with some mundane powders while the 28 Nosler used a 26" barrel and superior powders that yielded higher velocities. Anyone doing this comparison would realize Nosler was promoting their chambering. Surprised they didn't do similar with the 30 PRC. Edited meant to say their 30 Nosler

180 HVLD 26" barrel = 3260fps and thats running Hornady brass, on the 6th firing. Can't find my notes, but pretty sure Lapua brass had 95gr capacity
 
I'm waiting on my GS to finish my 28" CFW Benchmark in 7 RUM, curious to see how it performs compared to the 28 Nosler. I have loaded for 4 28 Noslers all 26" and one with +P throat. All shoot 1/4 MOA or better, 2 8TW at 3325, one 9TW at 3348, and the +P 8 TW which should make up for the additional 2" on the 7RUM is running 3375 to 3440 all with 180 gr Berger Hybrids. Should have the 7 RUM ready in 3-4 weeks.
 
Im confused....whybare we talking about Noslers and Rums? OP asked about 7-300PRC actual experiences
 
Figured OP is looking for the better BC of the 7MM bullet as I have been, and letting him know of other options and potential performance.
 
You get just as much or more case capacity with either of those and better availability of reloading supplies or over the counter ammo in a pinch. If you are chasing ultimate speed and accuracy with the 180gr 7mm bullet I'm trying the 7-378 route with a 31" Kreiger 8.5TW for a goal of 3600+ FPS using RL50.
 
My current 7PRC load is a 160 Accubond. I am only considering a 175 so that it may be a smidge more stable for longer shots when needed and want to make sure i have the Velo i need to push that bullet. My main goal is to chamber this rifle in what will be a well rounded load. I don't want to do load development and the best load ends up being at or over pressure. I would rather find a low node in a larger cartridge that gets me the same results without ever worrying about a wet chamber from rain or excess pressure b/c I am shooting on a 100 degree august day.
