Picked up a 14" Contender barrel in 7-30 Waters in mint condition with 220 rounds of Federal factory ammo, nickel brass. I have several powders that I can use to reload with, but has anyone tried the 6.5 Staball powder in this cartridge?
Thanks in advance.

I used reloader 7 and a 120 NBT to take a couple cow elk, a large mule deer, and a few whitetail.

STaBall will be to slow burn. Follow advice of the others here. 7-30 waters is 30-30 case necked down to 7mm. Use appropriate power for it.
You are correct Sir! I have several other powders appropriate for the Waters. I had a Waters barrel years ago and sold it but stumbled on to this one and I'm back in the Waters business. Just wondered about the Staball.

I've not ever seen any load data published for reloader 7 in 7-30. Did you start with quick load software or just reload enough to be comfortable starting with an "off book" powder?

Another option is Accurate 2460, I used it two weeks ago with a Lehigh Defense 142 Controlled Chaos in a contender carbine barrel to take a nice doe. I worked some loads and settled on 33.0 gr. for a velocity of 2524 fps in a 21" barrel. I have not tried it yet in my 14" barrel. When I do i will be sure to provide feedback.
