Anybody have experience with the Sierra 160gr.S.B.T. in a7mm08 with a 22inch barrel on white tail deer? I'll be hand loading them to about 2550, 2600 F.P.S..:D

Absolutely! Well... not whitetails, but pronghorns...

My wife shoots the exact same setup as that, except Speer SPBT 160's... but yes... going ~2500 fps from a 22 incher. Took her first antelope last year with it at 525 yds. :) It's a sweet little rig.

Here's the write-up:

The Speer 160 looks almost exactly like the Sierra 160, and performed wonderfully (as mentioned in above write-up). I would expect similar performance from the Sierra. Speer claims a slightly higher BC on their 160 as compared to Sierra's looks like ??

I'm looking at a similar setup but using the Sierra 160gr H.P.B.T with a 24" barrel. I'm hoping to start working up a load soon using IMR 4350. What powder are you using?

Thanks for the reply. Right now I'm trying R17, IMR4350, and H414. I'm still playing around trying to get some accurate loads.gun)

Hey guys. What twist are your barrels? I've been shooting sierra 120s from my tikka with great accuracy. I need to move to a heavier bullet, I was thinking about the 140gr hpbt but will look into a 160 if you guys are getting good groups??

Hi Fleavitt, the twist in my barrel is 9.5, So far the best group with the 160 gr. Sierra is 3/4 inch @ 100 yards using W.W. case CCI BR2 primers and 43.5grs. Rel. 17 powder. Velocity is around 2500 to 2550.

I like one shot kills where possible and prefer to do all my Hunting before I shoot.---Elmer Keith
