On September 11, 2001, 343 members of the Fire Department of New York perished while trying to rescue people trapped in the World Trade Center. Scott Pelley speaks with firefighters who were there that day and the loved ones of those who never made it home.

I was on duty that day , went to the training tower and got the news ,we were under attack. we were sent back to the station to watch the towers fall . As a HOUSTON FIRE FIGHTER ,that's a day I will never forget.I can't imagine the thoughts of all the fire fighters and police as they rushed up the stairways most likely knowing things were going too turn real bad .
