6.5 Creedmore to 22br

I have a 6.5 Creedmore in Savage 12FV. Wish to go smaller, faster and far less recoil. Can I rebarrel with a Savage 22br barrel with only headspacing and no other modifications except magazine ?
Found a used take off and hope to make the change over very reasonably. The head size for both calibers appears to be very close.. Any advice would be appreciated

Yes, the 22br is the same head diameter as the 6.5CM. The 22 br is pretty short so feeding can be an issue, or you can put in a single shot adapter. I would think a 22-250 might be a little easier to swap to, if you are inexperienced. I used to have a 22br Savage and it's a great round. Mine never shot as good as I wanted, so it got changed to a 243 Ackley Imp

Savage makes a dbm mag for the BR case if you have the dbm bottom metal I put together a 6 BR on a savage several years back it feeds perfectly
