Looking for some wound examples....looking for distance, barrel length and type and weight of projo used for the 6.5 creedmoor on live tissue. Preferably at longer ranges, doesn't have to be ELR but that would be cool too. If you don't want to display data or photos on public forum you can PM me if its more comfortable. This request is strictly for cross reference data.

Can't really see the wound channel, but this is what the "scene" looked like. Shot with 6.5 Creed and 140 Bergers

I'll bite on this.

I'm not sure what difference it makes if the terminal performance comes from a Creed or any other .264 cal. The only difference is the muzzle vel and the bullet used. Bullet design and muzzle vel will dictate effective range and impact vel at all ranges.

In other words if using the same bullet in a 6.5-06 as in a 6.5 Creedmore the terminal performance will be the same except the 6.5-06 will extend the range a couple hundred yards farther. Or closer shots will be more violent with the 6.5-06 because the impact vel will be higher.

Just because the bullet was launched by a Creedmore does not impart some magic to the results. The Creed is getting an undeserved reputation as a wonder cartridge. Reality is that it is a very nice cartridge but on the lower end of performance within the world of 6.5's.

I think this should be a thread to compare 26cal bullets at varying impact velocities. Then guys could take that information and translate it over to what fits the capabilities of the 6.5 that they use.

Sorry for the rant. I am just tired of seeing the Creedmore advertised as a better long range option than other cartridges that are clearly much better at distance. There is no replacement for horsepower.

Not sure if I missed something within the post, but I did not see where the OP was wanting data to compare with other 6.5s. I just understood it as written...just some pics and info. Looks like some folks attempted to derail the post.

Good day!

Thanks Kirk,

I was really afraid I kicked a hornets nest.

I don't see how the OP ever believed he had a "Wonder Cartridge" and wanted to see all of the glory that it has performed. I'm sure most of us have shot a multitude of calibers at game animals, but comparing 6.5 bullets at different impact velocities is exactly what he was asking IMO. The 6.5 Creed has plenty of drawbacks, but the advantages of a low recoil, short action cartridge that still pushes high BC bullets does deserve some credit. A rant about the lacking ability of a proven cartridge probably wasn't the best answer. Hope this isn't taken as a shot, as it wasn't meant to be. I just feel the OP wasn't looking for a response that belittled his post. How often has this type of thread been posted for ALL of the other calibers. I know I've seen a few.

I understand and was not looking to belittle anyone. My rant comes from a multitude of marketing and people buying into it. Not this one post. Same could be said for the marketing of the 38 Nosler being more effective than the 338 Lapua.

My bad, should have left it alone. We have a Creed and like it very much for what it is. It has made everything we shot with it dead.

Your reply shows class, and I'm glad to see this community has people like you. The only reason I brought it up was to clear the air with the OP. I have a few 6.5's, and the Creed is one of them. It's just nice to see a cartridge like this go mainstream and have a lot of factory support. It allows new shooters to have a capable long range cartridge that has low recoil and increasing factory ammo availability.

Amen! I love my Creedmore but agree completely with what you've stated here! Pleasant, accurate and fun to shoot but not nearly the horsepower as my 26 Nosler or either of my 264 WMs. Well Said!

That being said, it does kill very effectively. The 140 HVLD exited through both shoulders and the hog never took a step, a breath, or moved a muscle...DRT....this caliber is a real pleasure to shoot!

Brux barreled Rem 700. 26" 1-8.5 twist. 143 edlx at 2750ish(i dont know exact fps off the top of my head). Goat was at 344 and whitetail at 200ish. Neither one took a step. Bullet went right through the heart on the goat and a high shoulder shot on the whitetail, pass through on the goat, recovered bullet on the opposite side skin on the whitetail. (i know i should have weighed it to see how much weight it retained, but somehow i lost the bullet)
