I am new to the idea of long range shooting. I am curious what the proper aiming point diameter should be for 500 yards with a maximum engagement of 18x on the scope? Reticle subtension at 500 yds/18x is 3/4". My initial practice will be at the range on paper.

The smallest dot you can see is best. I paint targets using a paper towel roll to mask the orange paint while spraying the background color. Works fine at 700 yards.

Aim small, miss small. :)

Like 7magcreedmoor said. I use those small colored stick-on dots that I buy at the local office supply box store. I've also been buying those cardboard poster boards at Dollar General for 50 cents. Staple them up and put 6 or 9 little colored dots on them. Shoot all day at 500. gun)
