Has anyone done one of these? I've got everything to put one together on a savage 10 that was originally in 300wsm, I just need to find the time to chamber the barrel. I have a cow elk hunt this fall and wondering my effective range, have saw reports of guys getting a 250gr bullet to 2700fps at muzzle, not sure if id shoot 225 or 250s. Any way any info on experiences is appreciated.

What 325 brass are you taking about? If it's Nosler, not that it's bad brass, it's pretty soft, consistent but soft. Why not just do the 325? I know different is fun and I'm all about that but the 325 is a phenomenal elk cartridge. I love mine.

I love the 35 cal and already have a lot of 358 bullets of different weights and once those are up I feel like there will be more types of .358 projectiles than .323

I agree 8mm bullets are terribly hard to find. Luckily I've bought a few hundred of them when they've come in stock. 200gr AccuBonds and Partitions.

I guess to add to the actual discussion, I think I'm only getting about 2800 out of my 325 with 200s. I'm not sure 2700 is realistically achievable in a short action. It could be, I'm not sure on the math of adding 50gr of bullet while lowering the powder charge (due to case capacity/encroachment).

I was planning on using 325wsm brass, figure I don't have to open it up as much and I can actually find it

I found and bought a lot of the Winchester .325 WSM brass when it became available. I needed it for the .325, .338 and to test the .35 WSM.

The .35 WSM was for an acquaintance who liked everything .35 as well. It's a well behaved and powerful enough cartridge for most intermediate distance elk hunting. The accuracy I found consistently was good for hunting, maybe not benchrest targets but very applicable for hunting. ;)

He preferred the 250 gr. Nosler partitions so that's what he shot in a 20" barrel suppressed.

The last .35 I shot was a .35-378 Weatherby. Guaranteed to knock over any elk walking this Earth!

Enjoy!

I love mine! Winchester crf, lilja barrel
I like Bertram 325WSM brass

I settled on Barnes 200 at an accurate 3050 fps
In mine, extreme spreads below 10fps with RL17

Tried CEB 180 Maximus, ran up to 3180 but just wasnt impressed

Speer 220 did fair up to 2700+
Hornady 200 at lower velocities did ok
Never messed with any heavier, as I wasnt motivated to try anything the Barnes wouldn't do😁

Acubond 200 and 225 had to be seated way more jump than i wanted, so i put them away
