338?

I bought a savage hog hunter in a 338 winmag. I know that it is not a common longrange cartridge, however it has a heavy contour barrel, and I am going to restock it in a Boyd's pro varmint stock. With bedding and all . What do you guys think about if the rifle can shoot them using cutting edge 225 grn bullets travling 2800 fps. These bullets have a .640 bc. Any sugestions?

Not sure on the exact question but. A 225 gr. 338 bullet with a bc of .64 at 2800 fps mv will make for a great all around And long range round.

Thanks cold finger. Sorry about the confusion. Just wanted to know if I needed to push that bullet faster. But I don't think so. Any way thank you for the reply.

As long as it has the standard 1 in10" twist it will stabilize they bullet. How long is the barrel? How far do u plan on shooting with it?
