Hello all, I am new to the reloading field for rifles and was wondering if anyone had any loads made up for .338 LM using 250 gr SMK. My rifle is a Savage 110BA so it has the 1:9 twist. So far I have Lapua brass, remington LRM primers, and H1000 powder. I also have a 30-06 and .270 WIN to load for so if I need a different powder for the .338 it's no big deal. If no one has a load for the 250gr SMK using H1000 please recommend at least a start or different powder. Thanks for any help.

I have never shot anything but the 300's in my LM. With the 1 in 9 twist of your rifle you might consider the 300gr also. If you go with 300's I would start with 89 gr of H-1000 and work up. Seating depth will vary rifle to rifle but mine likes them .062" off the lands

I got the rifle for Christmas and have not shot it yet due to I couldn't find any 300gr pills. I finally said F it and bought the 250's. Eventually I will get the 300's but at least I have the ability to fire it now.

Ive used Retumbo and 250gr SGK's in my 9.3 twist 338 Edge cause thats all i have currently. I used 300gr SMK's but they are only avalible in larger quantities.

I shot 3/4 MOA at 100yrds at the range for sight in with the 250gr pills. decent for a hunting bullet.

I appreciate it man. Eventually I will get my hands on some 300gr Bergers but who knows how long thats going to be. I have heard some good things about Retumbo and R-25. I will have to get a chronograph so I get get some results log in.

I have a McWhorter Custom .338 LM. I am using Federal 215 Primers, 92.0gn. of V560 powder, and Nosler 225gn. Accubonds. I'm getting 3280fps. and getting 0.25 M.O.A. all day long... Hope this Helps!

I have a Savage 110BA also. Extremely accurate with 300 SMK's, 91 gr N570, and OAL 3.720", 2.8545" to the ogive. Winchester LRM primers. 100 yard group .38", but was a little gusty, managed to hit 4" clay pigeon on 3rd shot at 1000 yds. Other two shots really close. Good glass helps - 5-25 PRH scope.

One very sweet rifle.
