Thinking about a new "heavy" hunting rig. Wanting it to be mag fed, and in a big 30 or 338. Coming from a Sendero in 300 RUM shooting 215s, I'm not wanting to loose much performance. Mostly deer hunting with the rare elk hunt every once in awhile. 300 Norma, 300 RUM or 300 PRC/win mag even. 338 RUM, 338 Norma or Lapua? Lay some ideas on me!

30 Sherman Magnum. Mine will run 230 Hybrids up to 3100' with a 28" barrel and 215's max at 3200'. It will shoot 300 prc factory ammo extremely accurately and then reload with 30 SM dies for added performance. Reamers, Hornady Match dies, and ADG head stamped brass available.
Standard bolt face and runs in a 3.750" magazine with the high b c bullets.

@elkaholic Can you please quit doing that? It's making me second guess my decision to have a 300 PRC built and it's not too early for me to change my mind (again) on the chambering.

I recently decided to pull my 300 PRC barrel and go 338 NM simply because I'm shooting elk every year beyond 700 yards.
If you're mainly deer hunting there's really no need to go 338, unless you just want to.

I'd go 300 Norma with an 8 twist to shoot the new Barnes 212 LRX bore Rider, that thing will be sick with it's .710 BC.
The good thing with a 300 Norma is you could load those super long high bc monos way out there and still mag feed from a 3.850 aics mag

And I just seen Berger shipped the 245 EOL, and Hornady has the 250 A Tip. Those both make the .308 more appealing. But I also like the idea of a .338 for more energy. Bigger is always better lol
