Nothing wrong with shooting 150s out of a 300 Win Mag. Fast and flat is what some people are after. I wouldn't consider it a good choice for long range hunting but we might have different definitions for that. Inside of 500 yards the 150 is pretty awesome. 180s are surprisingly good out to 1000 yards. Most of the shooters on this forum are looking for a load that will have minimal wind drift and perform on game at the limits of what their rifle is capable of, and for a 300 Win Mag that means 190-230 grain bullets. The 208 A-Max and 215 Berger Hybrid are excellent performers out of this cartridge with H1000. So, go ahead and shoot the 150s if you'd like to, but I doubt you'll get much info about such loads on this forum. Might be best to look at some loading manuals or online data from Hodgdon and Nosler to get an idea of where to start. Let us know what you come up with.

If you want a 150gr load for your rifle, I would recommend H4350 powder, no other powder will be as accurate in my limited experience with that bullet weight.
I used that powder with 150gr Ballistic Tips to shoot feral hogs at 500yrds and less, this was a stock Ruger M77 MK II with a 24" barrel, velocity was around 3350fps.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

I agree on the H-4350...man, a 150-165 x-bullet traveling at 3300-3400 fps would be awesome and would certainly let you reach out and touch anything..

Hello
of Course i know thats not really an Long range bullet . i would load also all over 180 grains for really Long distances . but here i not have that big animals or not that big distances . all happens between 100 - 400 Yards . and the animals are not that big also .
the second reason is i want to test out how accurate the 150 s can be out of this remington rifle .
for real big distances i use my sako trg s / 338 Lapua mag .
thanks a lot
:)

If you do use a 150 gr bullet on let us say deer size game I would suggest using a bonded bullet like the Nosler Accubond. From personal experience with cup and core 150s impact velocity needs to be under 3000 fps or you do not get much penetration especially if bone is hit. 150s work good IF ALL YOUR SHOTS are over 200 yards but inside 200 is where you can have problems with them. 165s do much better than 150s in my experience under 500 yards.

I've shot a few 168 grain bullets out of my .300 with H4831. I know Cooper Rifles tests their .300s with 168s/H4831 and I've heard of people getting good results with this powder in the Win Short Mags using 150 grain bullets. Might be worth a try if you have access to it.

Short range whitetail load in my 300 is a 168gr Barnes sitting on top of some H4831. Lots less meat damage with one of those. A cup and core 150gr inside of 200 is going to leave one hell of an exit wound on a small critter.
