I have a 300 SAUM w a Bartlein barrel in an Alaskan Tutanium. Not really found anything that shoots great. Are there any recommendations. Kinda favor Barnes bullets.

This may be true but your barrel may not favor these bullets. One of life's great mysteries.;)
There is really no good information to help make decisions with.
One significant helpful fact would be your twist rate in the Bartlein?
Second would be the overall length of the cartridge and how far you're seated off the lands.

My Remington 700 BDL SS shoots 130 Barnes TTSX very well pushed by Ramshot Big Game.

My go-to load for custom match Rem M700 .300 RSAUM was 190gr. Sierra Mk, H4831SC {63.0grs} 9 1/2 Remington primer gave me 2945 fpe with crazy SDs of 8 fps this was a load I used in Raton NM and many other LR matches over the years. I have a 300 SAUM in the Remington 7 short action. Because the mag is short, any loads that shot well had to be hand fed. I had a fantastic load with Nosler 180 BT at 0.020 off the lands, but to mag limited to 0.080. I switched to the Hammer 165 PH and have been very happy.

Velocity 3007 (according to QL pressure is 63.4K so start work up with a lower charge).
Everything I have shot (two mule deer, one elk) with this load did not take a step.

1) what length should I cut the barrel - 16.5", 18" or 21" are the three I am debating but interested in a different length with which you have had a good experience
2) what 180gr and heavier hunting bullets do you recommend based on your experience for the barrel length you recommend

i just bought a Rem 700 stainless in .300 SAUM with a sporter contour barrel, currently 24" in length, and standard 1:10" twist.
Goal: create a lighter-weight and handier alternative to my .375 H&H that I could add an AB Raptor 8" suppressor to hunt medium (mule deer, mountain goat) and large game (moose, bear) up to 400 yards with gun as short consistent with those goals so I can work through brush and light enough to carry climbing steep mountains.
Debate:
Originally, I wanted to cut the barrel to 16.5" (as short as possible) but when I asked ChatGPT was basically advised to go no shorter than 21". Below is from ChatGPT
"Why not 18" or 20":
• 18" – Too much velocity loss (~200–250 fps); risks under-expansion at 400 yards, especially in cold weather or lower-density altitude.
• 20" – Acceptable, but gives up ~50–75 fps over 21" with no major handling advantage. Not enough to justify the loss.
Bottom Line:Go with a 21" barrel — it's the best-balanced choice for long-range terminal performance on big game, while still being compact and suppressor-friendly."
What length barrel and 180gr+ bullets for the length do you advise based on your experience?

Mine are factory Remington model 7s 22" mag contour barrels. I have a load with IMR 4831 for the 165 & 168. I'm in Alabama so I had no need to go heavy for whitetails and hogs!! I have data on heavier and I think the heavy's were more accurate with RL 15 to the best I can remember!! One thing I found out from Barnes before it changed hands they said that the 165s were designed for magnum and the 168s for more standard calibers if that helps.
