I was just looking for some feedback on this cartridge. I have seen very few actual results so far.
Thanks

As we've seen with the 28, the Nosler data is most likely skewed by bbl length, powder choice, and COAL. Bottom line displacement=velocity. Efficiency is another game. I'd like to see some real world numbers once they start showing up.

On their site, they claim it exceeds the .300 WBTY ...

30 Nosler

Perhaps it's too new to share any findings.

I have both, well mine is really a308/26-Nosler and yes it does. Corrected for barrel length. 30 Nosler is a little faster, not much.

I would rather have a 30-Nosler than a 300 RUM, of course I have both. 2 300 RUMs. At least 3 300Wby, at the moment only 1 308/26-Nosler.

I have a 9 twist Proof barrel to make another 308/26-Nosler.

What is it you really want to know.

It holds more powder than a 300WM
Almost exact to a 300Wby
Not as much as a 300 RUM
Fits in magazine better than a 300RUM or 300Wby

If you start with a 300RUM or 300Wby action it will feed perfectly. I made mine from Wby Mark V.

Over a 300WM the 5 is grains extra is worth about 100fps.
Over a 300Wby worth about 50fps

Yeah, but its got nuthin on a 30 Lara . Ha Ha

In all seriousness, it would probably duplicate the .300 Lara/.300 Ackley.

I know Ed has a new .300 Lara, and I have a .300 Ackley. They are both improvements over the .300 Weatherby, which, as we all know, is a step above the .300 WM (which both me and Ed, also, both have, coincidentally :D ).

I would guess it's on par with that, since the .28 Nosler is on-par with the 7mm STW.

Thanks! John Whidden is building my dies and I have 8-12 weeks wait before I can do any reloading. :)

Agreed! Mine is closer to the .300 Jarrett except mine has 37.5 degree shoulder angle.

Below is an extract from Kenny Jarrett's website ...

To make the .300 Jarrett, we run the 8mm Rem. Mag. brass through a Redding .300 Jarrett full length die. We then load 79 gr. of H1000 powder with any 180 gr. .30 caliber bullet and fire it in the rifle. That's all there is to it. As an emergency alternative, the .300 Weatherby Mag ammo can be safely fired in the .300 Jarrett, but the fired case cannot be reloaded because the neck area is too short after firing.
Cheers!

The 30 nosler

Yes 3000 fps with a 26" barrel is possible with 215s at normal pressures. My chart says I made 2930 with my 24" barrel but it's been a couple years.

The decision process boils down to:
Belt vs. No belt
Twist for big bullets
Barrel length 26" is much better than 24"
Recoil sensitivity, at over 4000'lb it's a whopper

It's a bit more than a 300Wby. Same as an 300AI. Nothing different from an STW.

I've "designed" a case that is between and 'Nosler and WSM. It's just time to get it done;

Take any RUM, 300Wby, STW action and change the barrel. Nothing much else is required.
