Basket weave checkering is what yours looks like. Not sure I know cut checkering definition but all mine are a bit different. I'll post a pic. Personally I like the basket weave better. This is what cut checkering could be, not sure.
Thanks! Yeah I agree. I see now these are both basket weave, in spite of one being pre64. I did confirm that rifle was manufactured in 1963 with the folks at winchester a while back so I'm confident in the year.

Personally unless someone wants one for resale from value, my rifles are used in the field if there not inherited firearms from family, I could care less about the year made. I use them still as hunting rifles if they are good shooters.

That's how I am as well, but collectors see things very differently, so I felt obliged to get the info out for anyone who cares about the pre vs post 64 thing.
