280AI

Same here. New Savage Ultralite. I'll be using 150 Scirocco II and R16. Only 50 rounds through so far but has been excellent out to 550yds with a mild load and 150 NBT.

Can't wait for the weather to break so I can resume load development for my 280AI. I am loading 160 grain Accubonds and H4831SC.
My 280AI seems to love 4831 and R-19. 59 gr of either shoots almost identical groups - right at 0.6". Got a little hot at 59.7gr so I backed off but it was still getting a velocity increase.

I need to get away from the house and do some range time as well. I've been waiting on a suppressor (over 8 months) to really get serious about finalizing some loads in the 280AI. H4831SC and H4350 have been my go to thus far depending on the pill. 160AB, HH143, and Berger CH168 all shot well so far, but only limited sample size of each.

My favourite cartridge and very efficient. I shoot 143 HH, 160AB's, for hunting and 168CH's during off season. H4831sc is a great powder but if you want to increase fps while retaining accuracy, try RL26 and/or RL23. Like every hunter/shooter/loader, we all have our "magic potion". Keep us posted and welcome to the .280AI cult!

Here's my most accurate load.

H4831SC, 58.7, Hornady SST, 162 grain, .030 off the lands (3.310 COAL), Nosler brass, Federal 210 primers, 8-shot chrono test, ES 20, SD 6.3, average velocity 2824fps, 316 moa,

I have another load for 162 ELDX with 58.8 of H4831SC that shoots .415 moa.

I'm trying to find some Peterson brass, so I'll do some load development with that if I ever locate any. The Savage Ultralight in 280 AI is pretty easy to develop accurate loads for.

h4831 works great with 160 AB'S. H-1000 even better but you can't get it. Same with the Nosler Bullets. Am switching to Hornady. Good luck on your development.

What kind of accuracy and speed are you seeing with 160AB's over H1000?
