Good evening gents, I finally have that Sako TRG-s at the smith or will have this week. Thinking about loads and bullets. what are you fellas&ladies using? My default is usually AB's. this is a hunting rifle shots mostly under 400 but my stretch 600. I'm open to whatever. Looking for great terminal performance with the best accuracy that I can get. 26 inch barrel 8 twist. If you can known MOA and killing results.
Thanks

I have become a big fan of the 280AI. I like to experiment with loads. The AB 160's shot reasonably well with H4831SC. The HH143's and the Berger 168's out performed the AB's in my barrel (8 twist 24"). RL23 gives me the best speed and good accuracy. I just picked some ELDM 162's to see how they work out. I may become a match bullet convert. 🤔

IMR 7828 with 160 AB @ 2955 with 26" barrel

I have a 26" Benchmark that shoots really well with RL23 and 162 ELD-M about 2950-2960 also!

In my 280AI 61gr RE26 , federal trophy bonded tip 160 gr, Fed 210M primers, Garmin chromo at 3050 fps. Quarter in groups or less ( .15" ) at 100 yards , bench mark barrel 22"
Amazing results on Texas Aoudad at 202 yards. Heard they were really tough, this one ended up about 30' from where it was hit and only because it felt off a small cliff.
Love the TBT bullet but can't get them anymore, hopefully some will become available.
Have had excellent results with the 160 gr .284 accubond out of a 7mm WSM on large mule deer at 400 yards. Both are great bullets in my opinion. TBT has the edge if it were available.

In a 25", 9T X caliber barrel,Standard throat length, I shoot 175g Nosler Long range accubonds with 56g of IMR 7828, bullet seated .003 off the lands. The federal 210 primer shoots dot size groups while others always open up groups. These 175g LRAB have to be sorted by ogive length to be seated .003 off the lands. IN this particular rifle, I use Lapua 30/06 cases and PMC 30/06 cases formed with the Cream of wheat method.

I have only seen two one pound containers of the R#23 in my life time, rare as chicken lips around here.

160AB's pushed by RL23 and 143HH pushed by RL26. .280AI amazing cartridge. Very efficient, low recoil, large rifle or large rifle magnum primers work, and there are more than a few powders that will produce very good loads with velocity and accuracy. H4831, IMR4831, IMR4350, IMR 7828(ssc), RL22,23,26, and there are shooters who use ball powders.
