Dumb question but one I can never geta a straight answer on...H4831 vs. H4831SC.
I load the H4831SC in my 300 WM with 180 GR HH bullets. It shoots amazing!
I'd like to develop some loads for both my 280 AI and my 28 Nosler but data usually only list the H4831.
People reference H4831. Several references in this thread.
I know the SC stands for short cut and I also know that the two powders are not interchangeable.
How much difference is there and can one develop loads around the H4831SC when only H4831 is listed?
I like 168 GR Berger bullets and if I could figure out he Hammer bullets I would use them too.
I have 8 lb jugs of the H4831SC and I'd like to use it.
I shoot Cooper of Montana rifles.
"Hodgdon's position has consistently been that H4831SC is the ballistic equivalent of H4831.
The SC version is simply manufactured with shorter kernels. Their published data is intended to apply to both powders."
