.270 WSM

I have two 270 wsm. One is a kimber and the other a Rem 700. I've used IMR 7977 with 145 eld-x in the kimber. I'm around 69 gr and am getting 3150 with 10-12 sd. I run my rem a little harder. In the rem I'm at 67.2 gr of R-26. Getting crazy fast speed at 3312 with 8 sd with 140 accubond. Both 24 in barrels. Get some R-26 if you can man… that powder was built for the short action mags.

What model (Kimber)? I have a Classic Select and it is very accurate. I've been using IMR4955. Thanks to the generosity of a member on this website I was able to snag a couple of lbs of RL26.

It's a Montana. That's wonderful news!! Friend's / members with R-26 are fantastic to have in these crazy times. What are you loading up for your classic select?

You may be able to reach 3400 in the 130 gr bullets with R-26 if your looking for speed. Hold your breath Carlos.. you might kick up some dust.. LOL.
I just picked up a few boxes of the Barnes 129gr LRX's. Barnes load data doesn't list R-26 that I can see but I will poke around and find a starting load for my Montana when I get the rest of my brass broken in.

I'm going to start loading for my Ruger M77 270 WSM. I currently load for 308, 6.5, 243, 223 30-30. I do have some 270 WSM brass and CCI MAG primers but haven't decided what powder or bullet to shoot. I would like to develop a load that I could use on the bench or on an elk hunt. Any suggestions on where to start with the limited availability of powders

Thanks
Mike
Just tell me barrel length and pills weight.

Been loading a friend tikka 270 wsm. I am seriously
limited on brass quailty but found a decent load with h1000 and 150 gr interlock bullets. Decent being maybe 3/4 Moa. I feel like the gun could do a lot more with better brass and more work but all he is only interested in is a sub Moa out to 300 yards.
I really like the aspect of the cartridge design but brass and not wanting to pour to much of my own reloading stuff limits the true potential of the gun.
with that, I'm just helping a friend with today ammo crisis.

I was getting 3357 ave with the 140 AB's at 67.5 gr of R-26 but that was pushing it with hornady brass. Pockets were loosening up a bit and ejector mark was getting noticeable. I backed of to 67.2gr. 3400 is very doable in the 130's I believe. Work up slow is the name of the game. I've got 40 pieces of that hornady brass left. Might just have to say the heck with the pockets and keep that load with the 140 to hunt with. I've got some new Norma brass around here somewhere.
