270 WSM For Elk

Looking at building another custom rifle in a 270 WSM. What would be the effective range for this caliber on Elk using a 150gr bullet?

Shoot the 170 EOL Berger and take it to 1000 yds.

One rule of thumb I like is to run the ballistic on your cartridge. Take the weight of the animal in this case elk 700 lbs multiple that times 2 gives you 1400. A safe recommended distance IMO would be wherever your cartridge reaches 1400 ft/lb

Just broke in the 5th 270 WSM this year shooting the 170 Berger, I've taken elk out nearing the 1000 yard range with ease using the 165 Matrix, the 170 Berger is looking good also.

Look at impact velocity and bullet construction for your max possible range, as long as the bullet will open and make it to the of side its GTG.
