25-06 Ackley THE BEST?

Is there any cartridge that will out due the 25-06 Ackley with any bullet under 100 grain
This is what I have found so far.

257 Wby 87 grain 3775 fps 2754 flbs
264 win mag 85 grain 3812 fps 2744 flbs
270 win 100 grain 3510 fps 2737 flbs
6-06 Ackley 85 grain 3719 fps 2611 flbs
270 wsm 90 grain 3789 fps 2870 flbs
6.5 rem mag 85 grain 3792 fps 2715 flbs

I'm pretty sure you aren't comparing apples to apples. Do you really believe a 25-06 AI is 150 fps faster than a 257 Weatherby?

the one I posted is the fastest for the 257 Wby on ammoguide.
show me one better. I also looked in all my load books.
if you look up the capacity of the 257 Wby and the 264 win they have the same and the 264 can't beat it either

You can break 4000fps with 80, 85, or 87grn pills in a 257wby, factory wby 257 87grn ammo is 3825.

Well, who wants to shoot a .25 cal bullet? Do they have the great BCs of the 6.5, and 7mm bullets?

I don't know much about the 25.06 but an acquaintance I met in Colorado took a big big bull elk with one using ballistic tips. He had to shoot it 5 times though.

Something doesn't look right here, there are reports of gents pushing 130's out of the 6.5 WSM @ almost 3400.... just sayin...


You could really fiddle around with numbers with enough research to show pretty much anything you want it to say & do it without "fibbing" I'm not trying to torch you, don' t think that.... but as stated above, ALL variables have to be the same.

ackley always said his best was the rounds he built off the 7x57 case and his .300Ackley that Roy Weatherby pretty cloned.
