I have not been on here in a while. I notice the advance search is gone so I can't look up loads for .243. I am loading some 100 gr Hornady Interlock BT softpoints for a friend. My Hornady book shows the H4831, RL 17 and 19 as some of the recommended powders. I'm just looking for any tips on this. Will the H4831SC do just as good? I have powder in stock for all but the H4831. If there is a powder not listed please advise. This is strictly for whitetail deer hunting. Thanks, Alan

RL17 worked well for me with 95 grain SSTs at 42 grains with a CCI250 in Winchester brass. Excellent precision. The 95 isn't the highest BC bullet, but it works well in standard twists, and it kills deer well out to around 400 yards. It worked well for me for a long time.

I'm currently working with RL16, giving it a full work out. Currently working with the 90gr Sierra tipped game king, plan to push them around 3100 fps. Rifle is still new so the barrel hasn't settled yet. Does great with the 70gr Varmageddon though.

No love for H4350? I use it in my 6CM w. 105 Hybrid @ 3101 for my light load, 3200 for my hunting load from a 24" barrel. The most stable powder around. Very clean burning and accurate.

I've typically run 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips in my .243 rifles for deer. Either 42.5 grains of RL-22 or 41.5 grains of IMR 4350. I've also used IMR 4831 in a pinch. In any event, loaded in such a way, it's a real hammer on deer out to 250. What a great cartridge!

I always liked IMR4895 40.5 grs gives you about 3115 fps in a 24in. barrel. good groups.@ 100 yds. out to 300. Never checked at longer ranges.

95 Nos.BT's with 39.1gr of RL22 gets me close to 2600FPS and the Wife loves the low recoil. 39.1 SuperForm shows a little over 2650 FPS. Short 100 yard shots in the Mountains of NC...don't really need 2800FPS for the wife. Started playing with I4350 late last season and was impressed with the accuracy. (Loads are .010 off Lands)

Try 45.5 grains of AA4350 with a 90 grain Sierra Game Changer, 3320 fps out of my Sako a7, faster and much flatter than the 95's and 100's. They have a .490 BC, they are good on white tail, yotes and steel....m.w.
