3.1" is the cartridge length listed for the 240 Weatherby. Any 240 shooters have success with lessening bullet jump. Just started playing with Barnes 85 grain TSX, and was hoping to cut down on bullet waste.
Are you shooting them from a Weatherby rifle? I've used bullets in one of the MkV's in the 70gr weight with very good luck in the accracy department. What powders have you tried?Shooting the Mk V Hunter. Hoping to keep velocity at about 3500 fps to keep a little barrel life. The Barnes fit that bill pretty well. Appreciate the input. Thanks much.
If it's a MKV it should be. CheersI believe the Weatherby 240 is not freebored.
How far are you to the lands now?3.1" is the cartridge length listed for the 240 Weatherby. Any 240 shooters have success with lessening bullet jump. Just started playing with Barnes 85 grain TSX, and was hoping to cut down on bullet waste.
The 3.1" COAL is just a guide the reloading manual suggested when they did their load development. You need to find the best compromise between the CBTO and COAL that your setup allows you. For instance, I have a .257 WBY (.378" freebore). The recommended COAL is 3.17' COAL, but my current load is 3.34" COAL/2.833" CBTO (.015" off the lands) with 145 Black Hole Bullets. Good luck!Right now, I'm still testing powders at the manual 3.1", which is about
.195 from the lands.
