22 Creedmoor/ 22-250AI owners - help!

I have a 14" twist 26" barrel 22-250, get 3800fps with Sierra 53g HP.
Also have a 7" twist 30" barrel 22-250AI, 4100fps is max with 53's, but have had them blow apart. I run 77g Nosler Custom Comps in it normally at 3650fps or so.
The AI case rarely requires trimming and just works.

Cheers.

Great input. Thanks everyone for inputting info here... looks like a 1:10 or 1:11 might be good middle ground for people to run light to medium loads at the higher speed.. (for people not wanting to run the heavier 224's)

I think I'd consider a 9 twist. No blow ups and still can run the 75s more than likely if pushing them beyond 3500 fps. Still offers excellent accuracy with 50-69s also.

Yeah, assuming 4000fps,
1:9 = 320,000rpm
1:10 = 288,000rpm

I know 300k has been a "rule of thumb" but looks like some are getting away with slightly more. Good point on getting a nice wide range w/ 1:9

If I was doing another, for hunting only, I would do a 9" twist.
I was going to buy a 223 (YUCK!!) with a 9" twist for my wife, but the seller couldn't tell me if that particular rifle actually was a 9" twist or not, so passed on it.
A 9" twist is the best of both worlds, won't overspin the lighter bullets and you can use the middle weights to great effect.

Cheers.

Carmichael ran his with 12 twist barrels. Never heard any statements in his writings of bullet failure running the 50-55s at speeds he got from them. At that time, fast twist barrels weren't even a thought.

hope the OP doesn't mind a heavy question but is anyone running a 85.5 Berger in their 22 CM or 22/250AI?

It sure shoots well in my AI
