Was gettin clover leafs at 100 yards with 168grn Bergers using h1000, switched to 190grn bergers and accuracy went south using h1000 again and even after a ladder test for the bergers. Any thoughts here?

You may have to try a different seating depth or possibly the 185 or 210 bergers. My 300wm loves 185's and tolerates 210's. You may also try a different powder such as RL 22.

What was your charge weight? H-1000 might be to slow. The reason I say that, 74.6gns is 107% fill ratio with 53100 psi., and 97.5% powder burned. RL-22, IMR 7828 SSC or H 4831 SC might be a better choice.

I was wondering about the powder myself thinkin might try some 4831. Twist rate entered my thought as well. Rifle is a stock sendero

i am just starting with the 190's in my hunting 300 WM. I loaded up some with rl-22, some with h-1000 and some with magnum powder. at first just 3 different powder charges with each powder 4 shots so I get an idea of speeds the 2 that do best i will try and tweak. I will post what I get. I shoot the 210's in my long Range 300 with h-1000 and it is great but I too am thinking the 190's may do better with something else. if those 3 don't look great I will try h-4831 and imr 7828.

I've used h1000 with 190 grain pills in a 300win before; worked great. I'd use rl22 today if I needed to go there.

I'd shoot the 168's personally. I like 165 hornady bullets with rl22 in my 300 win. Shoots so great I've not played with loads for that one for over ten years.

I would hang in there with the h1000 and switch to a heavier berger. That powder really does well with the extra heavy bullets. And while I use the 190 in my wsm, If I had to do load development over from scratch, even in the short mag I would go heavier. In the standard mag I would go heavier without even considering it.

I agree. Even though My rig likes the 185's better than the 210's I shoot the 210's when elk hunting or where the wind is blowing. I am able to get under moa and average 2920 fps @ the muzzle with RL 22. If you will be shooting in the wind or very far out I would go as heavy as you can. Good luck

No one has asked your twist rate? Could be the problem. If not 74.5gr H 4831sc shoots 1/4" ragged holes in mine.

H1000 is Nosler's most accurate 180/220 gr pill loads. I hope so, because I just bought 8-lbs. RL22 is a great powder for te 300, but for some reason this gun does not like it. Those with 1/10 how do the Berger 168-190 grainers shoot?

I just went through some load development with my Rem 700 Milspec with 24" barrel. 180/190/210 Berger VLDs all shot well with the 210's giving .25 or better at 200 yards. Used both H1000 and H4831SC . Both work well. Best accuracy was achieved with seating of .010" off the lands with the VLD's. Seating depth definitely effects results with the VLD's. H1000 gave best velocity and ES. I'm running 75.5 gr of H1000, Norma brass, Fed215, getting 2750FPS, and ES in single digits. I have loaded as high as 77 grains with no pressure signs, 2825FPS, groups open up to .5MOA and ES 10-15 FPS. I would start at 72 gr of H4831SC and 74gr of H1000 and work up in .5 gr increments watching pressure closely.

Just thought i'd let you know my success with the H-1000 or AR2217 as it is here in Oz....i used 190gr VLD's with 76.1gns in my 26" Remmy and i get .19MOA@200m @2880fps... seated 0.020" off lands...have tried RL-22 but i don't get the consistency or the accuracy..love the accuracy of VLD's..
