I have a bit over 100 Berger 175gn VLD/hunting. I have tried a few different powders in a Rem 700, 300WM 1:10 26inch barrel timney trigger. Results were OK just not what I hoped for. I'de like to try Retumbo if someone has ever tried with 175-180 gn bullet a safe starting load. Hodgdon doesn't list it till 200 Gn I think. Probably with good reason.
Anyone ever try this powder with this weight or even a 180 gn bullet?
Tried IMR 4831/H-4831/IMR 4350/IMR 7828
I know it's not the best choice but H4831 is winning so far.
Im thinking I might need more retumbo than would fit.

Well, there ya go. Berger got back to me 30 minutes after posting and said just what I thought. More powder than the case will hold.
Maybe I'll look to increase my bullet weight. But if anyone has tried the lower weight bullets with success please let me know weight and power.
