Folks, I am in need of your help.
I have a Savage .308 that only likes the 178 ELD-X. And I mean only. It shoots those around 1/2 MOA, and everything else 1.5+ MOA.

As my boys are growing out of .223 and able to handle the .308, I'd like to load more of these, but I've run out.

Anybody have a lead on reasonably priced 178 ELD-X boolits?

Were at midway couple of days ago

Have you tried the 178 vmax? That may be a good stand in till you can find the eldx
I've tried so many bullets i can't stand the thought of attempting another development—not for this rifle anyway.

I have a known load that is amazing. But only for this one bullet.

My rem 700 shoots 178 eld-x's w/ IMR 4064 @ 2750 fps, thumper of a load!!!
I've tried everything from 168, 175, 185, 190, 208. Even the vaunted Berger Juggernaut 185s were inconsistent—would get excited about a 0.3 MOA group, but it would be highly inconsistent.

the 178 ELD-X are consistent in this highly finicky barrel every time.

How about 150 gr bullets? Lights out with those here, likes 150s and 178 eldx's...

"If" you cannot find a 178 Hornady ELD-X (G1=.552) and want to stay with similar BC or better, you might consider the 175 BD2 (https://badlandsprecision.com/product/308-175gr-bulldozer-2/) with a G1=.605.

Good luck!

Ed
Thanks for the suggestion! I am trying to avoid attempting to develop a load for yet another bullet, given that all the usual suspects that typically work awesome in 308 have not worked in this barrel.

If it didn't shoot the 178 ELD-x so well I would rebarrel it. Maybe my boys will have to step "down" to .22LR this year instead of up to .308. Haha.
