I have been curious about high velocity impact performance for the 140 gr ELD Match bullet. Today I had a chance to try one out on a mature whitetail doe at 100 yards.
Shot from a 26" 6.5 WSM, 8 twist at 3190 fps muzzle velocity. Impact velocity should have been 3027 fps.

Shot her in the armpit, She bucked 5' high and backwards LOL:eek:. Ran dead 15 yards.
.264" entrance and about 1" to 1 1/4" exit. Broke 1 rib in and 2 ribs out. No recovered jacket or lead!
Internals were recognizable but lungs were about half slush, the heart had a 1" hole through it.
This is all I have so far... not extremely violent, pretty uneventful. No meat loss at all. Not nearly as messy/ dramatic as Bergers.
No complaints really so far.

I wanted to try it on a doe before experimenting on a mature buck. I was worried about over expansion at high velocities ( blowing up). Even after Cody's thread about the 147gr.
Looks like I might have more expansion at slower impact velocities... farther shots.
