1 inch vs 30mm scopes

Is there that a big a difference of light transmission between 1 inch and 30mm scope tubes?

From my research into this, the consensus is that the quality of the glass and coatings have more to do with light transmission. The 30mm tube is stronger and allows for a larger adjustment range.

Correct. The size of the tube has nothing to do with light transmission or brightness.
