Seekins ph3 light strikes…. Thoughts from owners?

Also had the issue with Alpha brass and Remington 7 1/2 primers. It is not the components or ammo.
How much excessive headspace did you have on the virgin brass? How much are you bumping on once fired?

I resize using Le Wilson fl sizing dies. I use a Wilson micrometer gauge to set shoulder bump at .0015ish. After i tools bolt assembly apart and dropped it in my ultrasonic cleaner and lightly cleaned with clp abd put back together, i have not had any light strikes on my brass that was fire formed. I'm starting to think maybe the bolt just needed a real good cleaning to get manufacturing crap off of it.

Seekins offered to send a 2 day shipping label to mail bolt back to them. I was hoping they would just mail me a new firing pin but they want the bolt back. If i have any more light strikes I'll mail it back. If i go a couple hundred rounds with no issues I'll chalk it up to the bolt
cleaned?

On new brass i simply lightly chamfered and deburred. Trim length was perfect. I use a little graphite inside of neck…. Mandrel before bullet seating. I wouldn't think the originally fresh brass was the issue. I think the bolt was just needing cleaned from factory crap on it.

Glad that issue seems to be resolved.

What I'm getting at is it seems you really haven't found what your chamber dimensions are yet.

Virgin brass is typically on the shorter side as to fit more chambers. Typically you will see the most growth on the first firing. It's also somewhat common to have once fired brass that isn't actually fully formed to your chamber.

I've seen many guys just take once fired brass bump another two thou and start having issues whether it be light strikes or premature brass failures. Come to find out they were actually grossly under sizing their brass.

If your bumping once fired brass that chambered without resistance you could be bumping a lot more than you think. Excessive headspace in conjunction with primers not fully seated into brass can absolutely lead to light strike conditions.
