Have a new ph3. Getting about 10% light primer strikes. After reading it sounds common. Anyone had them send parts and it fixed it? Gun shoots very nice but so far the customer service ( complete lack of) hasn't impressed me and the common light primer strikes issue concerns me. I was going to order another rifle but hesitant now.

Any owners had good reliability out of these?

I've got a little over 110 rounds through my 7 Rem Mag and have not had any problems. I received it on May 19th.

Only issues I've seen personally were with primers from the Sig Hybrid Brass 7.62x51 pull downs from AR when loading them in a PH3 .308. Popped them all and ran 200's with zero issues. That Hunting buddy has 300 plus on that rifle with them.

The other PH3 we used the 6.8x51 Sig Hybrid reformed to .308 brass, no issues.

What primer? Seated below flush and have you tried the same in a different rifle?

cci magnum small rifle. Seated just at flush. Primers work perfect in other rifles.

I've got a couple of promising loads which need further evaluation. The 146 gr Hammer Hunter with IMR 4350 looks to be a very fast and accurate load so far.

Just starting to work a load up. But just sighting the scope in after 3 shots to get it zeroed it was punching 3/4 moa on some loads i made to try. Then when i started playing with charge weights i had a few less than 1/2 without touching seating yet. Just need the thing to go boom always 😂

Measure you're firing pin protrusion with bolt decocked. I haven't had a ph3 apart yet, but some actions have a threaded firing pin into the cocking piece, if the locking screws come free, the firing pin could get out of spec.

Is fired brass growing excessively in headspace? Could be a headspace issue. Hornady brass is usually fairly short of a saami spec chamber. If the chamber is a lil deep, could definitely be a problem.

Have your reloads all fired?

Does a fired piece of new brass chamber easily?

Lapua brass. Fired piece chambers. This was on new brass while fire forming. I took bolt completely apart and no threads. Pretty cool bolt actually the way it's designed. Did a deep clean and light lube and put back together and got better. Still no reply from Seekins. I'll call tomorrow if i get time.

Did you happen to check headspace with a new piece of brass? If there is excessive headspace and primers are also not firmly seated could cause light strikes.

iME CCI 450s in Lapua brass you should be well below flush to be seated.

Lots of reports on this issue. The head of the company issued a statement.

Also had the issue with Alpha brass and Remington 7 1/2 primers. It is not the components or ammo.

Yeah, I read the first versions of the ph3 had the issue and the PH2 did not. The ph2 bolt was a Remington 700 clone and the ph3 was a new design by them. Wondering if I got an earlier model bolt or something.

Neck size a piece of fired brass, and shoot it again. Should take some resistance closing bolt indicating it's at headspace, maybe a touch more.

De prime that multi fired case and check the shoulder position with your bump gauge, compare this dimension to a piece of new unfired. This will tell you if it's a heaspace problem.
