Berger! I bought a bunch of heavy new sierras and was disappointed on seeing them, I'm sure they'll shoot but the bearing surface is enormous,

I have heard at distance they can be questionable. These bergers should be perfect.

I have some 120s I'll test in my 6s.
6 Dasher, 6 Creed, 6x284 and 6PRC

I still feel that x284 case is better suited for a 25cal in 135 or 138gr
I run 135gr in my 26" 25 saw at 2950 max is around 3025 fps. Its a sweet shooter.

What powder choices would you use in the 6 284?

I have always used RL26 in mine, with 115 Dtacs... and its what I use in my PRCs.
I've got anfew years worth before i need to worry about changing.

None of that here.

...I had a shooter show up at a match that I was the range master for with one many moons ago. The format was 10 shots at 200-300-500 yards with bencgrest equipment at a standing groundhog with a scoring ring on its chest. 200 for the ppc's, br's and such was almost always all 10 shots in the 10 circle. The gentleman fired a few rounds and couldn't find a bullet hole and was scratching his head. After the round I called a halt for round 2 and a few of us went over to see what was going on, we watched as he fired a couple of rounds and saw that the bullets were coming apart at about 10 yards from the barrel. Never saw that happen before it was really awesome to see a flash of color that looked liked oil on water as the bullets disintegrated. The jackets were just to thin to handle the velocity and twist rate. I wished I could have filmed it but it was before these little phone cams. So be careful of driving it to extreme velocities with thin jackets...but if you do it's neat to see...

Howard Wolfe rebarreled my old 700 Rem varmint with a 30" Hart 8 twist in 6x284 about 25 years ago.
Has a nice multi colored laminate stock by Geri Baer on it.
Great for reaching out for prairie dogs or ground hogs.

No kidding, 7 1/2 twist at 3300.

Only bullets i will be shooting will be designed to handle the 7.5 twist.
112gr Barnes
115gr DTAC
115gr VLD Berger
116gr TMK
120gr Berger

Let me know if you need some DTACs, I bought 500 with nose rings and I can send you some for testing.

With the release of the new Sierra 116gr TMK. I put this together.
Oal of the bullet is 1.375
6.5-284 Peterson brass necked down
Bullet seated around 3.150" puts the boats tail at the bottom of the neck.
A buddy has a 150 freebore reamer from Manson. I sent him some bullets.
Jam in his setup is 3.0965"
Will probably have a 24" barrel spun up

Looks like good candidate for a Proof PXT
