300 rum reloading

RL33, but be careful. It is some strange stuff sometimes. Like gee, I'm shooting 105g of RL33 and a 230....HMMNNN. Maybe not so good...closer to 100g is ok. Retumbo is good.
Yup, rl33 is a bit odd at times in a 300rum. With the 225 Hdy. hpbt I'm getting 3,000 fps with 95 gr rl33- rem brass/215 primer. I don't think I could go to 105 without sticking the bolt. Stock rem 700 lr or stock rem 700 bdl lh rifles.

YESSIR....
In fact...this whole project was going to be a 30 300 Lapua IMP. $800.00 for a new Bolt from Bat and fireforming...all for 100 FPS. If all there was was Rem brass, that is the rout I would have gone. I have two 338 EDGE's that use ALPHA brass and I was going to neck them down to 30, but found 300 RUM brass...
The rest is history. Saved a grand!!
Looking at Midway the other day, and they have rem 300rum brass on order. I did put in a notification even though I still have some spare new brass. I'd like a bit more with 2 rifles in play.

I don't know how similar a rum is but I had identical velocity to n570 in my 28 nosler with retumbo. The node was much more forgiving along with es

No kidding RL33 can be strange. I tried 106 gr RL33 with a 250 Berger, just shy of 3200 fps and holy **** did it kick, no pressure, no heavy bolt lift, but too much. I went with that powder charge because Alliant showed that charge with a 250 gr matchking on their reloading page, but this was 200 fps faster than their load. They also show 99.3 gr with a 300 gr Match king and I use 99.0 with a 300 gr Berger and I am at least 125 fps faster than their test gun.

Tried retumbo in mine shooting a 180gr sst and didn't group. Went to h1000 and all better . Rifle is a rem 700 bdl deluxe. Still in the wood stock just a trigger and a wyatts box and not the longest one . I didn't want to have to cut the top and ruin the engraving. Everyone should have atleast one nice wood stock rifle .

Why would you have to "cut the top"?

The biggest wyatts box extends the length of the bullet combo so long it requires a modification to the bolt stop ,the bottom of the receiver and the top of the receiver for proper extraction is what was on there information. I went one box below the max length so I only modified the bolt stop and opened up the bottom of the receiver.

Gotcha. I did the same mod as you then.
